K Culture Feels Notice

After a long time of planning and deliberating, I have officially decided to discontinue blogging for K Culture Feels. K Culture Feels won’t be 100% gone as I still need a place to share my thoughts with others that love the same thing. The plan is to changed Instagram to @thereneebritt so that I am not only limited to Korean or even Asian music. I am also on Twitter with the same user name. Truthfully, I've been busy and it’s hard to keep up with the amount of music that comes out in the industry.

Over the last 10 years that I have been listening to K-Pop, it has changed a lot. There are way more groups than ever before, that it’s hard to keep up. So many groups that it makes it harder to stand out and last long in the industry. I remember groups used to be able to promote once or twice a year and stay relevant, but now it seems that they would have to promote 3-4 times a year depending on how well off their label is. If we have labels such as SM, JYP, and YG, they seem to manage less than 3 comebacks a year. I also remember groups from the same label never promoted at the same time and now it’s a free for all. This makes me think that idols can be and/or already are being overworked and have too many standards to live by.

I still watch K-Dramas but because of Netflix, I may not watch them as they are airing. (Netflix is getting more and more dramas to their site and may not be currently airing. I am currently watching Revolutionary Love and found out it came out 2 years ago *sigh*.) I may also not have time to watch them on time. I also feel that there are a lot more dramas airing to be able to keep up. There are Netflix and Viki Originals as well as Web Dramas so more options than before. So, it makes it hard to review them properly. Also, when watching dramas, the endings have always been meh for me so I don’t feel like I would have a variety of thoughts on each drama. A lot of them may also have the same plot but a different storyline. I still may highlight favourite dramas on Instagram because there are the few gems that are a must-see.

As for the language, based on Talk to Me in Korean, I should be Level 3 but have I even got past level 2? No. Learning the language always seems to take the back burner for me even though I would like to be bilingual in something. When it comes to making blog posts about the Korean language it’s hard to come up with new content. If you are looking to study Korean, I love the Talk to Me Korean series as they have formulated their books so that it is easy to understand as well as groups it so that we can be conversational off the bat.

Overall, I guess with age, I don’t get as excited or just feel overwhelmed with the industry. There are some music or shows that come out and I think, “YASSSS” (a/n: Stray Kids is making a killing!!!) but it’s not as intense as when I first got into it.

If you would still like to read my past blog posts, I will have them posted on my business site: reneebrittmedia.ca as portfolio pieces.

I will still share some content on Twitter and Instagram so make sure to follow @thereneebritt. I thank all the readers from the bottom of my heart that have come across my blog and allowed me to express my excitedness together.

I hope that you will continue to follow me on social media where the full will continue.
