Asian Drama of the Week 7

I decided to post this late because when I came to write about these dramas, I had to scan through it again to make sure that I didn't in fact missed something and confirm with other kdrama watchers. I had finished Vampire Detective and from what I heard it either had the same writer as Vampire Prosecutor and/or that it was loosely based on it. I agree that it is the same writer as all 3 of dramas had ridiculous cliff hangers.Vampire_Prosecutor_(Korean_Drama)-p1"Prosecutor Min Tae-Yeon (Yeon Jeong-Hun) is bitten by somebody he doesn't and becomes a vampire. Tae-Yeon rejects the life of a vampire and he survives by drinking the blood of dead people and still lives as a righteous prosecutor .Tae-Yeon also uses his new found abilities as a vampire to prosecute powerful persons normally thought above the law. A mysterious case then occurs and the evidence points to a vampire as the perpetrator. Tae-Yeon now knows that he is not the only vampire. He also ponders why he became a vampire and what truths may lie behind their motives." - Asian WikiStarring: Yeon Jeong-Hun, Lee Young-Ah, Lee Won-Jong, Jang Hyun-Sung  Vampire_Prosecutor_2-p2"Min Tae Yeon (Yun Jung Hoon) isn’t your typical vampire or prosecutor. Rather than drinking blood from innocent strangers, he opts for blood sold on the black market in the posh bars of Seoul. He also has the uncanny ability to tell where the victim of his cases died, and how they died based on their blood’s smell and taste. The only person who knows his secret ability is Detective Hwang Soon Bum (Lee Won Jong), and both end up working together in a new joint department between police and prosecutors solving murder cases. Joining them are rookie prosecutor Yoo Jung In (Lee Young Ah) and intern Choi Dong Man (Kim Joo Young).Together, they solve murder cases, and each time Tae Yeon uses his “powers” to find leads on cases that seem unsolvable. But the one thing he can’t solve is: who was the vampire/serial killer that turned him seven years ago? And what happens when Jung In becomes suspicious of Tae Yeon’s “questionable” tactics in solving cases…" Drama Wiki/Drama FeverStarring: Yeon Jeong-Hun, Lee Young-Ah, Lee Won-Jong, Lee Kyoung-Young, Kim Joo-Young Vampire_Detective-p1  "Private detective Yoon San (Lee Joon) suddenly becomes a vampire. He solves various cases for his clients while also trying to uncover the mystery surrounding himself." - Asian WikiStarring: Lee Joon, Oh Jung-Se, Lee Se-Young, Lee Chung-Ah    With the both shows (Vampire Prosecutor & Vampire Detective), they both had cliff hangers at the end where you would assume a next season which is what bugs me about this show. At the same time, I loved it because again each episode had its' own cliffhanger and the crime investigations where highly interesting. The crime investigations had twists in it that most of them you wouldn't expect. Vampire Prosecutor, you flat out knew he was a vampire. He drank blood and turned into a vampire every now and then but in Vampire Detective, you know the main character was turned into - I guess you can say - "Super" vampire, but his eyes just changes colour. You rarely see the transformation throughout the show. A lot of times, I forgot what he was and just though he just had super powers. I only wished that there was a little more attention to him figuring what happened to him. I guess they know he is a vampire but he is the only one that can walk in the day so that would raise flags for me. The doctor guy in the show did mention that his blood was weird.... then that was kind of it. In Vampire Prosecutor, while he was solving crimes, he was searching for the person that made him into a vampire.Other than that, if you like crime investigation type shows, these are very good to watch. Every episode or two is a new crime. The interactions between the lead and supporting actors are also funny so it helps lighten up the series.*SPOILER ALERT* With how the second Vampire Prosecutor ended you would have thought there would have been another season. Fast forward 3 years later and Vampire Detective comes out. They had a cameo and did mention the main character from the prosecutor series but I never heard much about it again for the rest of the show. Both endings of Prosecutor and Detective both have a cliff hanger where the two main characters disappeared. I am not even holding my breath for a second to see if they come out with another season. *END OF SPOILER*I truly enjoyed Vampire Prosecutor over Vampire Detective. Everything above about story line and the characters are just much more interesting and fun compared to Vampire Detective. Let me know if I got anything wrong about the show. I did get lost a few times in Vampire Detective and it's been years since watching Vampire Prosecutor but I still remember it enough to recommend it to others!
